My Practice & Approach

I view the therapeutic relationship that we will create as a collaborative, safe journey to understand who you are, what has shaped the story you tell yourself, and how you want to further shape or reshape that story. My background has been working with those struggling with addiction, through the lenses of both abstinence and harm reduction, focused on finding the safest possible relationship with drugs and alcohol.

Many different individuals, institutions, and systems have impacted your life, some of which create barriers to growth. Our work will be to slowly identify and explore these influences, assess their impact, and craft a new story of actualization. We will explore how to navigate and diminish unwanted barriers and create safety in unsafe circumstances.

I enjoy collaborating creatively with you on ways of coping, grounded in evidence-based practices. If spirituality is an important part of your life path, we will incorporate your spiritual outlook into our work, as I believe our connection to nature and the spirit can be a very powerful ally to our mental health.

This process takes time. Our work will honor your culture, your identity, and your relationships as they are foundational to your worldview. I invite you to understand that progress, not perfection, is the goal. This journey is seldom linear but you are always the center of your own story.

Perhaps you’ve noticed the tortoise and the hare in my logo. Its a binary I consider often as I counsel. The tortoise reminds me to work slowly, carefully, and consistently, and that the protective shells we create sometimes slow us unnecessarily. The hare reminds me that we can’t ponder forever in a constantly moving world, and being too swift and reactive can prevent us from tapping into our calmest, most analytical selves.

There is always a path forward. Let’s find your ideal speed together.

My training focused on psycho-dynamic/humanistic approaches to counseling. I utilize REBT, motivational interviewing, voice/part work, narrative, somatic, and other insight and mindfulness-based modalities. I regularly work with NYC and NJ union workers, gamers, performing artists, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and others looking to develop self insight and improve interpersonal relationships. I am also expanding my focus towards supporting individuals experiencing Tinnitus.
